RATIONALE
"Tell me, show me, let me try"
The core concept of this module is based on the learning model "Tell me, Show me, Let me try".

The learners will first watch a fast-paced walk-through video to gain general context of the new knowledge (Tell me).

The content is then broken into a series of guided practice modules. By following the step-by-step instructions in each module, learners will actively build their knowledge. (Show me)

Once the guided practice is complete, the learner will take on a final challenge. A scenario-based simulation that must be completed without any step-by-step guides. (Let me try)
TELL ME: walk-through video
The first step of this learning unit is a fast-paced walk-through video designed to show learners the 'big picture' and provide a general context for the new knowledge. This serves as the primary introduction to the content, with the specific goal of helping learners build an abstract understanding of the key concepts.
This approach primes the learner, giving them a conceptual map of the information so they are better prepared for the hands-on, detailed learning that follows.
Show me: practice modules
While video does a great job of introducing content, the information often has a hard time sticking. It can also inundate learners with an overwhelming amount of new information to process at once in short span of time.
This is where practice modules come in.

It is designed to solve the video's 'not-sticking issue' with these two strategies.

They are broken into multiple segments, allowing users to review smaller amount of content at a slower, more effective pace.

Unlike the video where the learners are just passively watching, these modules require learners to actively engage with an interactive walkthrough to complete the module, which helps solidify their understanding.​​
CHALLENGES
One of the biggest hurdle or challenge with interactive walkthrough module was the lower user completion rate compared to videos, especially when the module wasn't assigned as a required task.​​​

The root cause for this issue comes down to 'inconvenience'

Users would have to 'learn how to use the interactive module' before they can access the contents.

SOLUTIONS
To overcome the challenges of user inconvenience, I designed this module to be as simple and convenient as possible.

Simple user interface with semi-linear flow that doesn't require any additional instructions

All instructions are written in short and concise in conversational tone.

Convenient guidance by attaching Chat-bubble instructions to hotspots.

Each step is narrated with AI-generated voiceovers.
Let me try: knowledge check module
After completing the practice modules, the learner concludes the unit with a final knowledge check. This module challenges them with a new scenario that resembles the ones from practice. They must apply their newly gained knowledge in a different but similar context, demonstrating their understanding.
CHALLENGES
Similar to practice modules, the issues of inconvenience was the biggest hurdle and challenge. And, because this module is a complex knowledge check module without any built-in guidance, strategies used in the previous modules such as 'simple bare-bone user interface' or 'utilizing guiding chat bubble' were not applicable. ​​​

SOLUTIONS
The user interface issue was addressed by adding a short video at the start of the module, showing how the UI functions and explains the steps users need to take to complete the module.

Regarding the 'lacking chat bubbles,' this was an intentional design choice. Since the key component of the assessment is the learner's ability to navigate the app and complete a task based on a given scenario, thus providing explicit guidelines was not necessary.
