work sample
This eLearning module was designed to provide a 'gamified assessment' as a follow-up activity for an instructional video. The goal was to build a foundational knowledge base using engaging video assets, then immediately reinforced by an interactive activity.

RATIONALE behind design decisions
gamification for assessment activity

I decided to gamify this assessment because standard multiple-choice questions just didn't feel right for the content.
In a real-world safety situation, you don't get a text description of the problem. Instead, you would have to make decisions based on what you are seeing in real life. I wanted learners to actively analyze the photos of the accident scenes, just like they would on the job.
Plus, turning it into a visual challenge makes the whole experience much more engaging than a typical multiple
choice question quiz.
randomized question pool

A common pitfall in self-paced learning is the tendency for learners to simply 'click through' until they memorize the correct answers. This behavior reduces the accuracy of the assessment, as it changes the focus of the assessment to a test of short-term memory rather than situational analysis.
To counter this, I implemented a randomized question pool that cycles through three distinct variations for each scenario
